1st Financial Bank USA credit card

One of the great things about 1st financial bank USA is that they are a bank built around students. The bank is located in South Dakota, and is focused on helping out the funding of college and other educational assistance for students. Getting a credit card would seem to not be so hard especially since the bank keeps in mind that students are just starting out their credit line in life and may not have built up a long history yet.

The 1st financial bank USA primarily issues Visa credit cards, and there is a form so that people interested in obtaining one can fill it out. I like the way this bank is founded, and I hope it stays running like this so that it can stay free from the serious financial debts that banks have been bringing on themselves lately with all the foreclosures.

If you want to find out more detailed information about locating a bank near you then just visit their website and see if you qualify for a student loan for college or a credit card.

Such a glowing review. The problem is that 1st Financial Bank USA is not out to help college kids. College kids are its primary source of revenue. Their credit card is offered as being interest free on the first $250. The only problem with that is that if you hold a balance for more then a month you are charged a monthly service fee of $2.50, even when you are under the $250. Now that’s not interest, but you are paying a minimum fee of 12% annually to borrow $250. And then they charge a fee of $9.00 for online payments. College kids like me only pay bills online. So how is a fee for online payments in my best interest? Answer: It’s not. The only thing it helps is the banks bottom line if my payment arrives late and no matter how early a payment is sent they always claimed one late payment a quarter. Bottom line, this is one offer that you do not want.

I agree completely! This card was nothing but a headache. They always found ways to keep charging me for things that occured as result of there own charges that they applied to my card. I called customer service to try and work this out and the representative was very rude and at one point gave me attitude! So finally, I just payed off the remaining balance, closed my account, and cut up the card. I strongly advise all students to not open any accounts or apply for any credit cards with them. They are only looking out for their own interests by praying on financially uneducated college students whose parents aren’t around to see this!

My daughter has used her 1st Financial Visa card for about a year now. She keeps the balance under the $250 limit and it gets paid regularly. It is only paid off completely during the summer when she is not at school. We have not had any problems with extra fees. They have increased her spending limit (with interest of course) if she would choose to spend above the $250. The interest is too high if you go over and would carry a balance for long. But for the little things (gas, supplies & going out to eat) she needs away at school it is good. I am going to apply for one for my younger daughter who turned 18 today and will be going away to college in the fall.

BEWARE!!! Do NOT get a card with First Financial Bank USA!!! The interest is ridiculous and if you fall behind in payments (no matter how regularly you had been paying your bill) they seek to completely destroy your credit. I am a college student and this was my first credit card. After dealing with them, the exorbitant interest rates, and the non-stop harassing phone calls I vowed never to get another credit card again!
